Getting Your Site Noticed

Bristol PC offer help and advise on:-
  • Creating pages that are targeted to 'key words' or phrases that are relevant for that page. Visitors brought to a page for search terms that are not relevant to the page they view will leave very quickly!

  • Selecting those 'key words' for each of your pages. These are the words or phrases that people heavily use when searching and are relevant to your page.

  • Avoiding search engine penalties! Search engines (like Google, Yahoo and Microsoft's Bing) can and do penalise both web sites and individual pages. Sites or pages with penalties can disappear or drop in the search engine rankings.

As a simple example of avoiding penalties: Do not use software or web sites that offer 'automatic search engine submission' to 999 search engines and directories. The major search engines and directories treat these as spam and can penalise your site for it.

  • Getting information on 'near misses' with the big search engines, even if your near to the top of the rankings your pages can be missed.

Using Directories

Getting sites to link to your site is another way to be noticed. With your permission, your site is submitted, with an agreed descriptive summary :-
  • To your local free directories.
  • To free professional directories and to other free directories relevant to your web site.

Directories can give you both visitors direct from the directory web site. They also can improve your page rank, especially if the directory is considered an authority web site.

Other Methods

  1. Cross linking - link exchanges with suitable sites.
  2. Submitting to directories that charge a fee. Google say they may penalise these but ...
  3. On line advertising.
